Kiri Camp

Tucked amid a forest of ebony trees, Kiri Camp’s handsome timber decks are the stage upon which camp life unfolds. Fronting a floodplain, take a seat in any number of armchairs or sofas to watch the wilderness cinema unfold. Depending on the season, your visit to this Okavango Delta camp may be backdropped by a sea of straw-colored grass or steeped with seasonal floodwater.

The armchair safari continues in Kiri Camp’s eco-luxury, contemporary canvas tents. Each suite boasts a lofty private deck with walls that roll up, obscuring the division between indoors and outdoors. Intimate by design, the camp has just 10 tents for a maximum of 24 guests at any given time. There are two Family Suites measuring a generous 1,500 square feet, and eight double rooms. All tents feature a dreamy outdoor tub that offers views of the floodplain and enveloping forest. With plush linens, aromatic bath products, and fully electrified, it’s total comfort in the wilderness. (Just leave your hair dryer at home.)

Kiri Camp is located in a private concession that’s home to a diversity of big game. Depending on the water levels, you might venture out for a game drive in an open-air vehicle (night game drives are permitted), on foot for a guided walking safari, aboard a motorboat to tour deeper channels, or in a mokoro, to silently ply reed-filled waterways. You might spy wild dogs, leopards, lions, elephants, buffalo, zebra, and more.

Back at camp, communal areas include a dining terrace, bar, lounge, and library. The large firepit is a social hub where guests mingle after dark, backlit by flickering lanterns. By day, you might dip into the plunge pool or melt into a massage in the comfort of your suite.

Kiri Camp welcomes all ages, making it well-suited to families or multi-generational travelers. The large tents are good for friends traveling together and honeymooners who don’t need a manifestly romantic vibe. Botswana is one of the priciest safari destinations, and Kiri Camp is a great pick within a mid-range budget.
