With good year-round game viewing, beautiful scenery, and great wild dog sightings, this southern delta camp in the Chitabe Concession is one we highly recommend.
Tasteful and luxurious, this intimate camp has five tented rooms with magnificent views stretching out into the delta, indoor and outdoor showers, and adjoining family rooms. Airy, open-plan main areas afford elegant spaces for guests to be revitalized after a day on safari, and the pool provides respite from the heat.
The area is known for its wild dog research and has particularly good game viewing between August and November when the Delta’s annual flood waters are retreating. With its open grasslands, this area doesn’t like the Okavango Delta of our imagination, but the scenery is magnificent and game-viewing excellent. Your game experiences on bush walks, game drives, and night drives reveal prolific wildlife. Big game from buffalo and elephant; predators such as leopard, lion, and wild dog; and a host of antelope, birds, and other animal species are seen throughout the year. But the best game viewing is when flood waters are at their peak and receding, ideally August to November.
For a well-rounded Botswana safari, we like to combine Chitabe Lediba with a more water-focused camp in the delta.
