Islands of Siankaba
Situated on two small islands on the Zambezi River near Livingstone, Islands of Siankaba is a luxury experience from a truly scenic locale. After checking in at the land-based reception area, a boat brings you to the island. Across a swing bridge from the bar, lounge, and pool area, private raised wood and canvas tents are nestled between trees and have their own Victorian bathrooms and gorgeous views over the river. The whole property feels quite adventurous with the small bridges and water all around. The are little nooks all around to find a private place to curl up with a book or a drink and with only seven rooms, you can have a very intimate experience. We cannot praise the staff enough here. They are so welcoming and cheerful and make you feel right at home.
Islands of Siankaba offers great activities such as canoeing, motor boats, walks, and a local community visit that are all included in the rate.Day trips to Chobe National Park can be arranged as well as a visit to the Victoria Falls, spectacular on the Zambian side from May to July due to high water levels. Most of the staff lives nearby and they love showing you around and even introducing you to their family. We also enjoyed spending time at the local school. This is a place where you could spend three or four days savoring the activities, the culture, and energy and letting the soothing water sounds lull you to sleep at night.
We would recommend at least two or three nights to take advantage of the many activities. If you’re only looking to stay in Livingstone for one night, we recommend the Royal Livingstone which is much closer to the falls.
