We love Wilderness Safari’s Toka Leya Camp. Located in the Mosi oa Tunya National Park, it’s only 25 minutes from the Livingstone Airport, yet it still feels remote enough to feel like you’re still on safari. It has all of the comforts and amenities of a hotel, yet you still have the quiet, intimate feel of a tented safari camp. It can be a great way to ease into your safari, a way to recharge between safari experiences, or a great way to end your vacation.
Just on the banks of the Zambezi River, the sound of the water is your 24-hour soundtrack. The raised wooden platforms through the woods are easily accessable for old and young alike. The 12 canvas and timber chalets are spacious and comfortable with a double vanity, indoor and outdoor shower, and they’ll even use an air-conditioner during the hot days and the heater during the cold nights. Each tent has a massive deck facing the river that are frequently visited by elephants. The lounge, dining area, fire pit, and pool area are comfortable and inviting. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive and the food is divine. Their spa is a lovely way to melt even further into relaxation.
The best time to visit is from May to July due to the Zambezi’s water levels. From Toka Leya, you can enjoy game drives through the park, river cruises, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, elephant interactions, flights over the falls, canoeing, tiger fishing, and, of course, a visit to the majestic Victoria Falls.
Overall, it’s a great choice for families, couples, and groups of friends. We highly recommend it.
