Savor culture, coffee, and nature on this two-week trip covering Colombia’s three major cities, plus a beach break and adventure into the coffee region.

Sun-baked Caribbean sands, emerald green, rolling hills, and colorful multicultural cities: Colombia is a country of diverse landscapes and fascinating culture. Take two weeks to slowly explore all that the country has to offer, beginning in the high mountain city of Bogotá. Cradled by the snow-capped Andes and brimming with art and style, Colombia’s capital city is the country’s epicenter of cultural cool.

From there, you’ll explore the lush coffee region, basing yourself at a beautiful traditional hacienda, and spending your days hiking, cooking, and indulging in coffee and cacao tours. Next, it’s on to laid-back, balmy Medellín. Shedding its gritty past, the city has emerged as a dynamic —and safe—artistic hub. It’s full of beautiful buildings (many with magnificent rooftop pools and bars) and lush green streets, and with the Andes Mountains all along its outer edges, the skyline is striking. You’ll end the trip with a spectacular stay in Cartagena on the Caribbean coast. From your home base in a historic luxury hotel, you’ll explore the city’s storied past and contemporary culture on private walking tours, and also spend a day on one of Colombia’s islands, with your toes in the sand on a private beach.

Journey Deep into Colombia trip highlights

  • Begin your Colombia adventure in Bogotá, where you’ll check into the stylish Four Seasons Casa Medina. Spend a couple of days discovering culture spots like the Botero Museum—a modern art museum named after famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero —as well as the Candelaria neighborhood, which is full of colorful buildings with an eclectic mix of architectural styles dating back to the 1500s.
  • Take a day trip out to Zipaquira, where you’ll visit Colombia’s famous Salt Cathedral. Declared the first Wonder of Colombia, the atmospheric underground Catholic cathedral is housed in a monumental salt mine with a history dating back to Pre-Columbian times.
  • Fly into Colombia’s coffee region, where you’ll get out into nature and get a taste for countryside life. Hacienda Bambusa is your home for three nights, where you’ll set out on morning hikes, lunchtime cooking classes, and afternoon cacao and coffee tours.
  • Explore Medellín’s thriving cultural scene, including Comuna 13. Stepping onto 1259 feet of outdoor escalators, visitors ride into the heart of the once-dangerous enclave that has morphed into a street art mecca. The lively neighborhood is full of innovation, as well as dancers, rap artists, painters, and storytellers who enliven the alleyways of this bustling labyrinth.
  • Arrive in Cartagena and check in to Casa San Agustin, ending the day with a private walking tour and a cocktail or glass of wine with a view of the sea perched high above Old Town from Cafe Del Mar. The bar’s outdoor terrace is located on top of the city’s historic stone walls. You’ll also spend a day exploring the vibrant neighborhood of Getsemani, which overflows with eclectic bars, restaurants, and galleries.
  • Escape the buzz of the city for the day by boating 45 minutes out to Acasi, a private beach on the island of Barú. Reserved exclusively for guests of Casa San Agustin, you’ll immerse yourself in soothing nature for the day, enjoying Cartagena cuisine and swimming in turquoise water.
