Ol Pejeta Bush Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy of Laikipia, is a simple bush camp offering rustic tents, good food and interesting activities like lion tracking.
Similar to Kicheche Laikipia, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp sits in the western part of the reserve which only three properties have access to. This reduces the number of vehicles around and adds a feeling of remoteness (in a not very remote reserve). The camp has a very pretty setting overlooking a river, and the salt lick on the other side attracts wildlife to watch from camp. However, there have been mixed reports about the game viewing.
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is fenced to prevent the elephants walking through camp and there are a number of game guards around protecting the conservancy’s precious rhino. During game drives, you do travel along the fence line which can ruin the sensation of being in the wild. At the same time, the fence makes the camp good for families and comforting to parents.
Overall we feel the tents and the main areas are a little too rustic for what you pay, but the views from the main tent, location in an limited-access area, and friendly staff weigh in the properties favor.
