Magdalena Bay offers so much to those who love nature. This is a place to get up close and personal with the gentle giants, grey whales, who come to the Bay’s sheltered waters a few months of the year with their young calves. This is a seasonal activity, from Dec – March and you’ll need to be comfortable on small boats to get the most out of the experience. With such a limited high season, the town doesn’t have a booming tourism industry to support high-end hotels so prepare for very basic accommodation here. But, it’s well worth roughing it a bit for the reward of a whale encounter.
