May 24th, 1 pm (EST) on Zoom

Anthony Bourdain once said, “I think food, culture, people and landscape are all absolutely inseparable,” and we wholeheartedly agree. This is why we’re inviting you to take part in our next edition of Passports: Nourishing The Soul Through Food with Melony van der Merwe on May 24th, 2022 at 1 pm EST. It will be an event celebrating soulful food experiences in Southern Africa.

During this webinar, our charismatic host Melony—a south African nomadic Epicurean who has traveled the world in search of food for the soul through unique culinary experiences and culture—will take us through some of the most unique food experiences in Southern Africa. These range from wild food foraging and preservation, the booming gin industry, lunar dinner communions, as well as the medicinal, ceremonial and spiritual uses of wild plants and authentic indigenous ingredients by traditional cultures in Southern Africa.

Melony has created a business, Manna Moon, around sharing a deep, personal understanding of food alongside an authentic experience of it.

About Melony

Melony grew up in the Cape Winelands, holds a BSC degree from The University of Stellenbosch and has lived in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, New York, Los Angeles and now spends her time between Miami Beach and Cape Town. Melony shares DNA with the first peoples of Southern Africa—The Khoisan—which drives her dinner experiences to include the inspiration of medicinal, ceremonial and spiritual uses of native ingredients. Food, travel and spirituality have dominated her life as she hosts high-end dinner experiences, following a lunar calendar, throughout the world. Melony hosts epicureans on journeys of inner discovery through travel and at her dinner table. She is wildly passionate about building community and has empathy for nature and culture through food.
