Elsa’s Kopje is a beautiful luxury property in Kenya‘s Meru National Park and is named after Elsa the Lioness of Born Free fame. Elsa’s Kopje was one of the first luxury properties in Meru National Park and played an important role in prompting conservation and tourism in a park that was once plagued by poaching.

Created using natural materials and built into a rocky hillside, this stunning lodge is a firm favorite of ours. Elegant, open-fronted luxury cottages and a sumptuous honeymoon suite are decorated with stylish African flair.

For the less mobile, the cottages near the main lodge are most suitable, but if mobility is not an issue, the cottages across the rope bridge are fun and more private. If you are looking for an extra touch of exclusivity, Elsa’s Private House, near the main lodge, offers an ideal set-up for families.

Superb dinners are served al fresco—a different location each night—and the camp’s infinity pool has glorious vistas over the surrounding Meru plains.

Elsa’s Kopje is one of the best for viewing rhino in Kenya, and is 30 minutes from the Rhino Sanctuary within Meru.
