The Singita brand is synonymous with the ultimate luxury safari experience. Singita’s Ebony Lodge in the Sabi Sands Reserve is a gorgeous property with extraordinary service and style. Where Singita Boulders is open and modern and sitting above massive boulders, Ebony overlooks the same Sand River, but is more nestled within the trees. The décor is traditional, a rich mix of colonial and African.

Its ten single-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites have decks, outdoor showers and heated plunge pools. There are steps within the rooms and this may be a concern for those with mobility issues. The recently re-done decking in the main lodge provides improved and more expansive views out over the Sand River and to the resident wildlife below.

Gourmet meals are paired with superior wines, carefully chosen from the wine cellar with the assistance of an expert sommelier.

We love Ebony Lodge’s great guiding and friendly staff that accommodates well to both couples and families with young children. The game drives through the Singita concession are superior. Guided bush walks, mountain biking, star gazing, and community visits are highly recommended between game drives and visits to the spa and exercise room.

You can see the nearby village and lights while on game drives, which does break the sense of remoteness. Aside from that, Singita can’t really be faulted and we highly recommend this property. We like to pair Ebony with Singita Sweni or Singita Lebombo which are in a remote private concession in the heart of Kruger.
