Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Located on the Ntungwe River within Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha Wilderness Camp is our favorite tented camp in the area. The 10 en-suite tents are quite large and offer flush toilets and running water while still maintaining the camp’s low-impact ideology. The public areas are very inviting and feature beautifully crafted wooden furniture and local art. Overlooking the river and gorgeous scenery is a lovely spot for sundowners and a fire pit where guests can congregate. The food here is excellent, and we love the management team and staff.
We like the sense of adventurousness of this camp – it feels wild and remote. It is ideal for people who are looking for a stop-over on their way to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, but also a great place to spend a few days going on bush walks and game drives, looking for QENP’s famous tree-climbing lions. Bird-watching here is also excellent or you can choose to take part in one of Ishasha’s community projects.
