El Albergue

Originally opened in 1925, El Albergue is a historic, family-owned boutique hotel, located behind the Ollantaytambo train station. With only 16 rooms, special detail is given to each and every one, resulting in an elegantly rustic style. Beautiful gardens visited by hummingbirds are engulfed by the aroma of fuchsia, passionflower, peaches and avocado trees which all adorn the early 20th century lodge. The on-site restaurant uses fresh ingredients from the organic farm on the hotel grounds, the bar menu includes locally distilled spirits from Destilería Andina and coffee is available from Café Mayu whose beans are grown and roasted right in the Sacred Valley.

Step right outside to catch the train to the spectacular ruins of Machu Picchu. Visitors at El Albergue may also spend some time at the Inca and Pre-Inca archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo, Pisaq and Moray; or river rafting and mountain biking, and enjoying the beauty and culture of the Andes. We love Albergue for more budget-oriented, independent travelers, as hotel guests can walk to the famous Ollantaytambo ruins as well as the town of Ollantaytambo.
