Charco Hotel

The Charco Hotel is a charming boutique property that occupies buildings that were once used as Portuguese houses, dating back to 1680. Located in the oldest part of Colonia del Sacramento, Charco offers uninterrupted views of the Río de La Plata; step outside, and you’re within walking distance of notable sites, such as the Calle de Suspiros and the lighthouse, and countless cafés and restaurants. Be sure to dine in, though. Charco’s Bistro dishes up tasty regional and Mediterranean fare with superb water views. A garden lounge with low tables and a bar is a place you’ll want to linger. In the warmer months, take a dip in the small (unheated) pool.

There are just seven suites at Charco. Exposed, rock-hewn walls lend the hotel much of its rustic-luxe character. Jute rugs, exposed beams, and wood furniture warm the white-washed suites. The Balcony Room has water views, while others are garden or street-facing.
