Georgie Wood

Graphic Designer

Storyteller | Curious | Enthusiastic

Georgie grew up with a mother in the travel industry who ignited a passion for exploration within her from a young age. Her earliest memories include celebrating her first birthday in Malawi, and from that point forward, she was fortunate enough to visit numerous remarkable countries across Africa and beyond.

After university, Georgie’s passion for travel led her to spend three years working on luxury travel yachts, which took her to diverse locations such as New York City, the Isle of Skye in Scotland, and the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.

Following her yacht adventure, Georgie settled in Cape Town, a breathtaking city in South Africa, and enrolled in Art Direction and Design studies at Red & Yellow Creative School of Business. She’s since immersed herself in the world of design, working with leading design and branding studios in Cape Town. Georgie is thrilled to be working at Extraordinary Journeys in a role that blends her love of design and travel.

She is also an aspiring photographer, specializing in travel, lifestyle, and wildlife photography. Her camera is a constant companion on her journeys, capturing the beauty of the world and sharing it with others.

Georgie’s extensive experience and her love of travel and design continues to fuel her career aspirations. She is eager to continue exploring the world, one adventure at a time.

For me, travel is all about connection - with people, places, and nature.

My Greatest Adventure

My favorite way to travel is to explore new places with my camera in hand. I am always searching for beautiful moments to capture and love telling stories of where I’ve been through my photographs. I like to switch off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, immersing myself in the local culture, design and architecture, and indulging in delicious food. I’m always on the lookout for undiscovered local gems, hidden cafes, and local markets. I prefer to stay in one place for a while, allowing me to connect with the community and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture. For me, travel is all about connection – with people, places, and nature. Whether it’s through my camera lens or by meeting new people, I enjoy creating lasting memories and experiences that will stay with me long after the trip is over.

My Favorite Destinations

I’m a bit of a bush baby. Being on safari is one of the most enriching experiences for me and allows me to disconnect from the world and become totally immersed in nature. I spent many holidays wild camping in the Masai Mara in Kenya and it is still my favorite place on earth.

What makes the Masai Mara even more special for me is that my parents were married there, creating a deep family connection to the land. There’s an unparalleled sense of connection when I set up camp amidst the untamed wilderness, where the sounds of the African night become a symphony of life. I love feeling the earth beneath me as I gaze up at the star-studded African sky, each moment bringing me closer to the heart of nature.

Beyond the Masai Mara, I always pair my bush holiday with a trip to Kenya’s stunning coastline in areas such as Kilifi, Mombasa, and Watamu. The azure waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant marine life captivate my senses. Whether I’m watching the sunrise over the Indian Ocean or snorkeling in the coral reefs, I find solace and rejuvenation along Kenya’s coastal paradises.

These experiences epitomize a perfect adventure!
