If anything, I think people are surprised by how much more there is to Kenya. Yes, you have the prolific game viewing of the Maasai Mara, one of the world’s great nature reserves. But you also get to see remarkable conservation work firsthand, and you can experience the wildlife in so many different ways at any time of the year.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The variety of things you can do in Kenya makes it a great safari destination for all kinds of travelers. You’ve got the game drives (which are incredible), but you can also step out of the vehicle and walk around, too. There’s a strong cultural element to Kenya, with diverse peoples and their fascinating customs, including the Maasai, and the Samburu. You can also dig deep into the conservation side of things and learn how people and wildlife interact.
