Lion Sands River Lodge
Lion Sands River Lodge is a large safari lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. The main areas are spacious and open-plan with viewing decks overlooking the riverbed. A boma is a splendid setting for outdoor meals under the night sky, and a spa and pool offer supreme relaxation.
The River Lodge rooms modern and romantic with gorgeous bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers. The verandahs on the standard rooms are disappointingly small and we recommend upgrading to a Superior Luxury room, as the rooms and decks are far more spacious and guarantee a maximum of 6 guests per game-drive vehicle rather than the normal eight passengers.
River Lodge is connected to the other Lion Sands lodges via a system of decks, and the facilities may be used by guests from the other lodges. This does make River Lodge a busy property and gives it a commercial, hotel feel rather than the intimate safari destination many would be looking for. Lion Sands is worth the stay if you plan to spend a night in one of their beautifully appointed treehouses.
