1
Cape Town
Touch down in Cape Town to begin your safari honeymoon in Africa. Step off the jetway to be received with a VIP meet-and-greet, and customs assistance. A private driver brings you to Mount Nelson, a blushing pink oasis in the heart of the city. Settle in, perhaps with a cocktail at Planet Bar or shaking off jet lag with a spa treatment.
2
Cape Town
Alongside a guide who feels like a friend, acquaint yourself with the Mother City in a way that guidebooks can’t. Less about sightseeing and more about connection, it’s a chance to immerse yourself in local city life. And since it’s your tour, stops are directed by your interests. This evening, a foodie guide brings you into hidden culinary corners. Sample Cape Malay dishes and braai, then sip artisanal brandy during a mixology experience.
3
Cape Town
With a private guide, dedicate a day to the Overberg, a region of wild coast and seaside towns. Adapted by season and your whims, follow the scenic R44 to visit a comedic penguin colony, tour botanical gardens, and pause upon ocean cliffs for land-based whale watching. In warmer months, vineyards and farm stalls replace whale paths, and a scenic mountain pass returns you to Cape Town.
4
Cape Town
This morning, your guide collects you for a full-day wine tasting tour in the nearby Cape Winelands. Wander Stellenbosch’s charming streets and historic museums before sampling signature varietals at an iconic estate winery. After lunch, explore Franschhoek. Founded by French Huguenots, its galleries and boutiques blend past with present. A duo of tastings unfolds in the atmospheric cellar of a historic winery and one we reserve as a surprise.
5
Timbavati Safari
Fly to Greater Kruger to begin a dreamy safari at RockFig Safari Lodge, where you’ll hide away in one of six thatch-roof chalets. Reclusive and replete with all the hallmarks of a honeymoon (a freestanding tub, private veranda, canopied bed, and an outdoor shower), it’s a proper, romantic nest. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, then observe your first ritual sundowner.
6
Timbavati Safari
Pass splendid days crisscrossing Timbavati’s 130,000-acre wilderness on twice-daily game drives. Considered one of South Africa’s best safari destinations, this private reserve shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park. Expect the same thrilling Big Five wildlife, minus Kruger’s crowds. Morning drives hold clues to night hunts while evenings cast the bushveld in golden light. Joyously, RockFig’s vehicles sit just four passengers, meaning you always get a window seat.
7
Timbavati Safari
By now, you’ve met some safari A-listers: lions, leopards, elephants, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo, and kaleidoscopic birdlife. Today, step out of the Land Cruiser to meet safari’s supporting actors on a guided bush walk. Moving at the pace of footsteps, and without the hum of an engine, the bush comes alive. With primordial senses heightened, you’re no longer a passenger to your safari, but an active participant.

Timbavati Safari
Between safaris, savor the rituals of camp life that conspire to draw you closer: a pop-up pancake bar in the bush; dinner served inside a lantern-lit boma; nightcaps shared around a crackling fire while stars blink overhead. With so few other guests on the property, staff feels more like friends who intuit your needs before you can voice them. Baths are drawn, rooms are turned down, and coolers are stocked with your favorite things.
9
Johannesburg
Rise with a steaming coffee as guides ready the vehicle for your final game drive. Later, fly to Johannesburg where a private driver meets you at arrivals for a transfer to Hyde. Situated in the trendy Rosebank neighborhood, the hotel blends urban cool with African textures and mid-century accents. Your afternoon is at ease; dine at Proud Mary or make use of the well-equipped gym. Prefer a city tour? Our concierge is on standby.
10
Nosy Komba
End your honeymoon on the platinum beaches of Madagascar. You’ll fly to Nosy Be, then cruise to smaller Nosy Komba, a volcanic island carpeted with lush forest. Go barefoot upon arrival at Tsara Komba, where eight cottages are arrayed across a slope that slips beneath a turquoise ocean. Backdropped by ancient rainforest and fronted by coral reefs, outdoor adventure calls out, on both land and sea.
11
Nosy Komba
After days of sunrise wakeups on safari, take a luxuriously long sleep in. Coordinate with your butler the evening before, and enjoy breakfast delivered to your room. Spend a gorgeous afternoon at ease, sunning yourself on a cantilevered deck set atop beach boulders, or take refuge beneath a palapa, toes dug into the sand. An in-room couples massage imbued with ylang ylang or lemongrass is the perfect preamble to dinner.
12
Nosy Komba
Slip into fins and don a mask to peer into Nosy Komba’s undersea treasures. Just beneath crystalline waves, textured coral gardens, technicolor fish, and sea turtles appear in vivid detail, enchanting snorkelers and scuba divers alike. These waters are equally alive beyond the reef. From July to November, migratory humpbacks parade through the Mozambique Channel, while September through December brings the chance to swim alongside whale sharks.

Nosy Komba
Today, turn inland for adventure. Walk forested trails in Lokobe National Park, following your naturalist guide in search of crowned and black lemurs who bound through the canopy. Later, visit a local community, where personal introductions offer insight into daily life, island heritage, and the conservation efforts protecting this fragile habitat. Return to Tsara for a private beach picnic, set atop a low table and shaded by canvas.
14
Nosy Komba
Spend your last day in paradise as you please. Explore the coastline by stand-up paddleboard or traditional dugout canoe; join a guided nature walk in search of chameleons; fish for tuna or dorado; or boat to greater depths to swim with sea turtles. This evening, a sunset cruise winds through the mangroves. Return for a romantic and celebratory tide-to-table dinner, served by candlelight on the sand.
15
Johannesburg
Your honeymoon draws to a gentle close. Linger over one last breakfast, framed by palms and a benevolent ocean. Boat back to Nosy Be. Depending on your routing, catch a direct flight to Johannesburg or Addis Ababa, or fly to Antananarivo (Madagascar’s capital) to connect to your international flight.
We created this journey for newlyweds who want a beach-and-bush honeymoon that feels wild yet refined. Think unscripted safaris by day, esteemed wine lists by night. Eschewing predictability, we’ve chosen a beach enclave in a place you probably didn’t expect.
