After a scenic private transfer along the Whale Coast, arrive at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve perched above Walker Bay. This pioneering ecolodge is celebrated for its biodiversity, conservation leadership, and refined sense of place. Days 11 to 12: Whale-Sized Wonder

Spend the next two days exploring Grootbos’ remarkable landscapes with expert naturalist guides. Venture out on a botanical safari, ride horseback along the fynbos, wander pristine beaches, or relax beside your heated infinity pool with sweeping ocean views.

From July to November, Walker Bay becomes one of the world’s premier destinations for close encounters with Southern Right whales. Board a luxury whale-watching boat with a marine biologist, or take to the skies for a breathtaking aerial perspective. For a land-based experience, join your guide on cliffside pathways, where whales come astonishingly close to shore—you may be able to hear the slap of their tails, the whoosh of their breath, and see them cresting less than a hundred feet away.
