  • The profound beauty, scale, and resonant silence of the Namib Sand Sea, Sossusvlei, and Deadvlei.

  • Fly above shipwrecks half-swallowed by sand to appreciate the drama of the Skeleton Coast in widescreen.

  • Be invited into Himba spaces to experience genuine cultural connections that feel kindred, not voyeuristic.

  • A Big Five safari set within a private wilderness. Privately guided, walking safaris, and an intimate, three-villa camp.

An elephant stands beside a low tented camp on a dry desert plain, with rocky hills rising in the background.

Spellbinding Namibia Trip

1

Windhoek

Day 1: Welcome to Namibia

Touch down in Windhoek, where a private driver collects you at the airport. Settle in at The Weinberg Windhoek, nestled in the charming Klein Windhoek suburb. If you feel like stretching your legs, cafés, galleries, and landmarks are close by—but it’s just as rewarding to stay put. Remedy any lingering jet lag with a spa treatment and toast your first evening on the Sky Lounge rooftop terrace.

2

Namib-Naukluft National Park

Day 2: Dunes and Stars

Fly charter to Wilderness Little Kulala for privileged access to Sossusvlei's ochre dunes. Modeled in organic desert architecture, your dreamy open-air suite blurs indoors from out. A rooftop bed is an invitation to sleep beneath a blanket of stars, and the private plunge pool gazes upon an infinite horizon. After sundown, a table for two is set within a candle-lit fairy circle.

3

Namib-Naukluft National Park

Day 3: Sossusvlei Dunes Namibia

Wake to a sunrise that paints the desert sky in kaleidoscopic pastels. With your guide, sneak through an exclusive gate for direct access to Sossusvlei, getting you to the famous dunes ahead of the rest. Sink your feet into the sand while hiking the crest of Big Daddy to look upon a vast sand sea. Visit dystopian Deadvlei before driving back to camp, scanning for desert specialists including zebra, oryx, and springbok.

4

Skeleton Coast

Day 4: Desert Solitude

Fly onward to Wilderness Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp, a small, secretive outpost cradled by russet crags, shifting sands, and an ephemeral riverbed. Upon arrival, you’re welcomed with song and ushered in like a friend. Unwind in a tented suite that folds harmoniously into the rugged landscape. Perhaps later, screen Vanishing Kings, a stirring documentary that follows five young lions in the Namib desert.

5

Skeleton Coast

Day 5: Desert Abundance

Though it seems uninhabitable at first glance, this sunbaked terrain teems with life. On a nature drive, scout for Namibia wildlife including elephant, giraffe, oryx, hyena, and encyclopedic birdlife. Miles from anywhere, it’s a wilderness you share with few others. Return to camp for sundowners and conservation stories with whichever field researchers happen to be working in the conservancy.

6

Skeleton Coast

Day 6: Skeleton Coast Day Trip

Make the long drive across dune fields and parched riverbeds to reach the wild Atlantic Coast, where bleached shipwrecks and roaring surf meet a technicolor desert. Flying back to camp, you’ll admire this surreal collision in breathtaking aerial widescreen. This evening, a lantern-lit dinner is followed by a nightcap at the campfire. Crane your neck toward the heavens for a glimpse of the universe, and to feel your place within it.

7

Ongava Private Game Reserve

Day 7: Remote Detour North

Fly north to experience a remote pocket of Namibia few ever see: a stark desert bisected by a ribbon of lush, riverine vegetation. Serra Cafema is your soulful basecamp, resting quietly along the Kunene River, in the shade of ana trees. Situated within the Himba-owned Marienfluss Conservancy, the lodge operates with deep respect for the land’s custodians. This partnership invites you into meaningful cultural exchanges that feel genuine, not arranged.

8

Ongava Private Game Reserve

Day 8: Quad Biking & River Cruise

Splendid days unfurl at your chosen pace. Rumble off-road on a dune-sensitive quad biking excursion or cruise the Kunene River (seasonal), surveying for Nile crocodiles and Goliath heron, and ending with sandbar sundowner. Nature drives and walks immerse you in the landscape, and with luck, you might spot brown hyena or tiny desert chameleons. Between outings, sun yourself at Serra Cafema’s pool and lunch on the terrace, soundtracked with birdsong and coursing water.

9

Ongava Private Game Reserve

Day 9: Himba Cultural Exchange

After breakfast, you’re warmly welcomed into a Himba community, greeted first by eager children. Speaking OtjiHimba, your guide is a bridge between you and your hosts. Make initial introductions, then sit to receive an application of otjize, ochre paint. Invited inside a hut, you might experience a smoke bath. Afterward, admire Himba artistry and craft, expressed in ornate leather and beadwork—ideal souvenirs.

10

Etosha National Park

Day 10: Luxury Namibia Safari

Write your extraordinary journey's final chapter on safari. Fly charter to Ongava Private Game Reserve, a private wilderness sharing an unfenced border with Etosha National Park. Settle into Little Ongava, an intimate, three-villa lodge with sweeping plains views and front-row seats to the wild. You’ll arrive in time to enjoy an afternoon game drive. Sip a sundowner, then return to camp under the veil of darkness for a night-cloaked game drive

11

Etosha National Park

Day 11: Ongava Safari, Your Way

Allocated a private guide and vehicle, games drives in Ongava amble through woodlands, savannah, scrubby veld, and Kalahari pan. The reserve’s permanent water holes are a treat—sweetened during extended dry spells—where mixed species congregate in scenes lifted from Noah’s Ark. Thanks to visionary rewilding efforts and rhino relocation, Ongava is a bona fide conservation success story, home to all of the Big Five.

12

Etosha National Park

Day 12: Walking Safari Adventure

Turn off the engine and depart the Land Cruiser to follow guides into the bushveld on foot. Treading lightly, voices are lowered to whispers and hand signals. The bush comes alive on a walking safari—and so do you. Midday, relish the seclusion of your villa’s infinity-edge plunge pool, enjoy a massage on your terrace, or draw a bath. A private farewell dinner served is a candlelit send-off.

13

Windhoek

Day 13: Journey’s End

Enjoy one last game drive in Ongava, and if time allows, an unrushed bush breakfast. A charter flight returns you to Windhoek. Continue your southern Africa sojourn or board your international flight home.

Who will love this?

This is a journey for travelers who prefer their sand in the desert, and wild wonders without crowds. You revel in isolation and hope to spy desert rhino or lions, but understand that a desert’s gifts are often earned, not given.
