Botswana Safari and Beach Honeymoon

Maun

Day 1: Welcome to Africa

Touch down in Maun where you're welcomed into the embrace of Grays Eden Sanctuary. Set high above the Thamalakane River, this serene hideaway is all archways, thatched ceilings, and airy interiors. It's a place that feels tailor-made for honeymooners—intimate, peaceful, and quietly luxurious. Shake off your jet lag with a poolside cocktail, dine on farm-to-table plates in The Eden Kitchen, and then drift off to sleep.

Day 2: Botswana Luxury Safari

Today, your safari honeymoon in Africa begins in earnest. Fly into the heart of the Okavango Delta, making Tawana lodge in Moremi Game Reserve your private wilderness. A camp deeply entwined with community, rich nods to Batawana cultural heritage are felt throughout. Settle into just one of eight suites, replete with honeymoon hallmarks: a gauzy canopy bed, private plunge pool and sala, a bathtub for two, and an outdoor shower.

Day 3: Wildlife Dramas

Twice-daily game drives give shape to your Okavango Delta safari, and no two are alike. Follow tracks through grasslands, floodplains, wetlands, and mopane forest, scanning for the formidable cats and predators who call these habitats home: lions, leopard, cheetah, hyena, and rare African wild dogs. Elephants, giraffe, zebra, lechwe, Cape buffalo, and some 400 species of birds round out the wildlife parade.

Day 4: Wild Romance

Between game drives, imbibe the joys of camp life. From the pool deck or while posted upon in the restaurant lounge, watch wildlife take long drinks from the Gomoti River. Unfenced, wildlife might wander right through camp. Book an in-room massage, sip sundowners in a surprise spot in the bush, and savor candlelit dinners. After nightfall, gather round the fire in the boma for a nightcap, chorused by bull frogs and hyena whoops.

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Day 5: Botswana Desert Safari

Fly from the lush Okavango Delta to the edge of the Nwetwe Pan in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Imagine a smattering of billowing, scalloped-edge canvas tents, shaded by desert palms, and surrounded by a thousand acres of shimmering, sunbaked nothingness. You’ve just dreamed up San Camp, an impossibly romantic, seven-suite camp. (You may recognize it from Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams.) Though seemingly stark and remote, you’ll soon discover this desert’s abundant gifts.

Day 6: Meerkats & Game Drives

Drive to a colony of habituated meerkats. Huddled together, standing on two legs, and warming themselves in the morning sun, their antics are unscripted and comedic. Carrying on, meet the Pan’s desert specialists including elephants, hyena, and antelope. Time your visit right, and you’ll encounter Africa’s second-largest migration; from November to March, 30,000 zebras arrive to graze nutrient-dense grass and give birth to newborns. In March and April, flamingos paint the Pans pink.

Day 7: San Bushman Walking Safari

This morning, follow San Bushmen for an enlightening walking safari. Moving at the pace of footsteps, your guides decipher the landscape, leaning on tens of thousands of years of indigenous knowledge and ancestry. It’s a special opportunity to imbue your safari with a human connection to those who call this unique landscape home. This afternoon, pick up the pace on a horseback safari or thrilling quad-biking adventure

Johannesburg

Day 8: South Africa Layover

Depart Botswana and fly to Johannesburg for a brief city break. Upon arrival, you’re fast-tracked through customs with a VIP meet and greet. Bags are loaded into a waiting vehicle and you’re seamlessly transferred to The Peech Hotel, situated in the quiet Melrose neighborhood. Let us make a dinner reservation at The Pot Luck Club (on-site) for acclaimed small plates paired with fine South African wines, served convivially.

9

Inhambane

Day 9: Mozambique Coastal Sojourn

The final chapter of your romantic safari is written upon sugar-fine Mozambique beaches. Fly to Vilanculos where a private driver transfers you to Sussurro hotel near Inhassoro. Spend four dreamy nights tucked away in a spacious cottage overlooking a saltwater lagoon. Rich with quiet luxury, Sussurro honors the land it stands upon rather than ornaments it. Your time here feels elemental, meditative, and organic. Think: linen sheets, stone-hewn plunge pools, and palm thatch roofs.

Inhambane

Day 10: At Ease

Barefoot days at Sussurro move with the tides. And while the hotel sits upon the Mozambique mainland, Bazaruto Marine Protected Area is within easy cruising distance. A year-round sanctuary for tropical fish, manta rays, and turtles, migratory visitors include whales, whale sharks, and dugong. Slip into fins to snorkel right from Sussurro’s beach or boat to Govhuro River estuary to spot bird and marine life in the mangrove forests.

Inhambane

Day 11: Private Sandbar Picnic

A hamper, canvas tent, and beach chairs are packed onto a dhow for an idyllic afternoon enjoyed in total solitude. A short cruise brings you to a dreamy sand bar that only reveals itself at low tide. Adrift on your fleeting shoal, wade into turquoise shallows and graze a picnic board while transfixed by an endless ocean horizon.

Inhambane

Day 12: Sunset Dhow Cruise

Spend your last day in paradise as you please. Dine on line-caught seafood in the harvest kitchen; kayak or paddleboard warm lagoon waters; or sip creative cocktails poolside, hand-delivered by a butler. This evening, a sunset dhow cruise is a potent and atmospheric send-off. Toast a pastel sunset, then sit for a starry, lantern-lit dinner on the sand.

13

Johannesburg

Day 13: Journey’s End

Your romantic safari comes to a gentle close. You’re transferred to Vilanculos for a return flight to Johannesburg. From here, continue your onward journey or begin your trip back home.
