1
Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport to start your Tanzania honeymoon. Wind through a lush coffee estate to reach Lake Duluti Lodge, framed by the gentle rise of Mount Meru.
Settle into a secluded cottage where canopy beds are draped in gauzy nets. After a long day of travel, ease into East Africa’s rhythm with dinner delivered to your suite. Draw a bath in the standalone tub or drift right off to sleep.
2
Ngorongoro Crater
Your safari honeymoon in Africa begins in earnest while driving through dramatic Rift Valley terrain that hints at wild days ahead. Arrive at Lemala Osonjoi Lodge where your suite bears hallmark honeymoon features including a cozy woodstove, oversize bathtub, and a daybed nook. We’ve also chosen this lodge for its privileged location near a lesser-frequented Crater gate. Reach the floor quicker, one golden hour before the crowds trickle in.
3
Ngorongoro Crater
Rise early and descend 2,000 feet into the misty crater. In the soft morning light, savor unblinking encounters with lions, elephants, and zebra, breathlessly framed by towering caldera walls. Later, sit down for a pop-up lunch in a secretive spot in the bush. Cheers, it’s your first game drive! Retreat to your lodge in the afternoon, then sip a fireside sundowner on the deck to appreciate the Crater’s dizzying scale.
4
Serengeti National Park
Trade one Tanzanian icon for the next. From Ngorongoro, fly to the Northern Serengeti for a spellbinding safari staged upon iconic plains. Sleep under canvas at Legendary Songa Migrational Camp, a mobile camp that moves with the rhythm of the Great Migration. Outfitted with just the right luxury comforts, it’s a wilderness experience that harkens to an old school safari adventure.
5
Serengeti National Park
At Songa, you won’t share game drives with strangers. Shape your days in total exclusivity; a private guide and vehicle are ready whenever you are. For half the year, camp is moored near the Mara River where, in season, herds of wildebeest may gather to make perilous river crossings. Guides have packed a hamper, so you’re free to stalk migration masses without returning to camp for lunch.
6
Serengeti National Park
Migration aside, this pocket of the Serengeti teems with life. Leopards drape on kopjes, elephants lumber through tall grasses, and cheetahs streak across the savannah. The Songa team loves to surprise and delight, staging romantic moments of wild dining. Imagine, a lantern-lit and pillow-strewn sundowner picnic or breakfast beneath an acacia tree ornamented with weaver nests.
7
Serengeti National Park
Write a magical morning into your Tanzania honeymoon, waking early for a hot air balloon safari. Suspended above iconic plains, voices drop to whispers. Admire the Serengeti in panoramic widescreen and spy wildlife in miniature as the sun arcs above the horizon. This whimsical experience ends with a Champagne breakfast in a scenic bush setting.
8
Mahale Mountains National Park
Your journey takes an exhilarating detour west into one of Tanzania’s most untouched corners. After a scenic flight, cruise across Lake Tanganyika toward Greystoke Mahale, reachable only by boat. You’ll play castaway, staying in one of seven thatched bandas arrayed across a shore backed by emerald mountains. Untethered from the wider world, it’s a magical place where adventure and relaxation mingle at the edge of the map.
9
Mahale Mountains National Park
The forest surrounding Greystoke Mahale is one of the world’s best places to track chimpanzees. Follow guides along trails that tunnel through pristine jungle. Once you locate a habituated family, spend an unforgettable hour in their fascinating presence; locking eyes with these expressive beings feels astonishingly familiar. Ask Mwiga Mambo, Greystoke’s manager and celebrated primatology guide, to decode their social dynamics for a political drama that unfolds like a book.
10
Mahale Mountains National Park
Drift Lake Tanganyika’s gin-clear waters aboard a traditional dhow. If you dare, dive into deep, predator-free water. Otherwise, cast a line for perch and then watch as your crew deftly turns your catch into fresh sashimi. On return, peer into the shallows to spot hippos “moonwalking” along the lakebed—a Mahale marvel.

Mahale Mountains National Park
Spend a final luscious day off-grid and unplugged. Rise early for a sunrise kayak, the honeyed light blushing over the Congo horizon. After breakfast, you might call once on the chimps. Or hike the misty trails of Mount Nkungwe with a guide who identifies a pharmacopeia of medicinal plants. Your last supper is a candlelit dinner on the sand as stars pierce through the dark veil of night.
12
