Luxury New Zealand Trip

1

Auckland & Waiheke Island

Day 1: Auckland Arrival

Begin your luxury New Zealand trip in Auckland where a driver receives you at the airport. A private transfer whisks you to Waiheke Island, a 40-minute ferry ride away. Make The Boatshed, a personal cottage-turned-boutique hotel, your sanctuary on this island that invites you to relish simple pleasures. We recommend a seafood platter as the sun dips low, you know, for jetlag (wink).

2

Waikeke Island

Day 2: Wine Island Joy Ride

After breakfast, borrow the keys to the Boatshed Picnic Truck for a blissfully meandering day of island adventure. Winding along coastal roads, these cheerful little jeeps make every moment fun. Nip into Waiheke Island wineries to taste signature vintages, linger in local galleries, and unfurl a blanket for a picnic on a secretive beach. With your playlist broadcasted on Bluetooth, it’s pure bliss on four wheels.

3

Nelson

Day 3: South Island Sojourn

Fly to Nelson, a sunny city sitting atop the South Island. Ringed by national parks and a magnet for creatives and gourmands, revel in its enviable art scene, imaginative cuisine, and unspoiled rainforest. Spend two splendid nights at Pihopa Retreat, a luxury lodge set on a historic estate surrounded by manicured gardens. Lounge next to the magazine-worthy pool or on your private veranda with a glass of local wine in-hand.

4

Abel Tasman National Park

Day 4: Cruise, Hike & Kayak

Set out on a guided full-day adventure through Abel Tasman National Park. First, you’ll privately cruise quiet coves and hike trails through birdsong-chorused beech forest. Along the way, your guide deciphers hidden Māori and settler histories that still echo through this coastal sanctuary. In the afternoon, paddle a kayak through turquoise waters that lap against golden estuaries. Return to Nelson in time for a romantic sunset supper.

5

Blenheim

Day 5: Wine Country

Drive yourself to Blenheim, the sleepy wine capital at the heart of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc wine country. Beyond cellar doors, the nearby Marlborough Sounds is a postcard-pretty labyrinth of sea-drowned valleys and secret coves. Your hideaway is The Marlborough Lodge, a Victorian convent reborn as a luxury wine country retreat. Take lunch at Harvest for acclaimed farm-to-fork plates, then relax by the pool or wander the estate’s lovingly tended gardens, hand-in-hand.

6

Blenheim

Day 6: Marlborough Wineries

A local guide collects you for a Marlborough wine tour where two private tastings introduce you to the region’s signature varietals and their dedicated makers. Savor a light platter lunch then board a (shared) foodie catamaran tour of Marlborough Sounds. Cruise jade-green waterways, pausing to pluck green-lipped mussels straight from the sea. Paired with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, it’s a quintessential taste of New Zealand’s coastal bounty.

7

Kaikōura

Day 7: Marinelife Kayaking

Drive to the Kaikōura Peninsula where rolling green hills meet snow-dusted peaks and Pacific coast. Your cozy base is Hapuku Lodge + Tree Houses, a design-forward lodge cradled by manuka trees. At sunset, kayak as fur seals hunt for octopus, swimming like ribbons in the honeyed light. Guided by a local expert, paddle through storied Māori and whaling waters alive with the possibility of penguins, albatross, and dusky dolphins.

8

Kaikōura

Day 8: Swim with Dolphins

Slip into a wetsuit for what might become the most memorable of your luxury New Zealand trip. Floating in the open ocean, come face-to-face with dusky dolphins. Experience an intimacy that defies explanation as these wild, free spirits inspect their human onlookers with playful curiosity. Later, enjoy Kaikōura whale watching—elevated. Board a helicopter to fly over a deep marine trench. This extraordinary day crescendos landing atop Mount Fyffe.

9

Kaikōura

Day 9: Cook Your Catch

Begin with a private fishing charter off the coast where albatross wheel overhead. Cast a line for blue cod, sea perch, or crayfish then bring your kai moana (seafood) to Chef Fiona at Hapuku Kitchen. Forage for fresh ingredients, learn to scale a fish, and cook your catch over an open flame or smoke. Enjoy an unhurried dinner paired with local wine, savoring the satisfaction of your tide-to-table journey.

10

Banks Peninsula

Day 10: Secret Cabin

Arrive at Annandale Seascape, hidden within Akaroa’s wild coastline. An architectural gem where modern design folds into the rugged landscape, relish the sensation of being suspended between land and sea. Isolated and discrete, enjoy the seclusion in total solitude. Gourmet provisions for a three-course dinner, picnic lunch, and breakfast spread are supplied. Easy finishing touches are the only demand, promising you a dining experience as intimate as the setting.

11

Omarama

Day 11: The Lindis

Drive the Canterbury Plains where rivers braid through fields of golden tussock and Southern Alps loom overhead. Beyond the last turnoff, the road gives way to wilderness. The dreamy Lindis awaits, a sculptural hideaway seamlessly folded into the Ahuriri Valley. This evening, savor haute dining prepared with honest ingredients for a taste of the local terroir. Think: foraged porcini mushrooms or wild Fiordland venison—served with arresting valley views.

12

Omarama

Day 12: Hiking & Stargazing

Hike the wild beauty of the Ahuriri Valley and Ben Avon Station, traversing tussock plains, beech forest, and rugged mountain country. Your guide will unfurl a picnic lunch in a scenic spot for some memorable wild dining. This evening, return to the valley floor for a private stargazing experience. Beneath infamously dark skies, trace Greek and Māori constellations and peer through a telescope into the infinite depths of the southern sky.

Omarama

Day 13: Botany & Trail Riding

This morning, set out with your private guide to explore the Ahuriri Valley, where wetlands, tussock plains, and rugged peaks tell the region’s geological story. Learn about local farming life and inspect unique flora. In the afternoon, saddle up for a private horseback ride through native beech forest, emerging into open subalpine herb fields with sweeping views across the valley.

14

Queenstown

Day 14: Arrive in Queenstown

Depart The Lindis for Queenstown—but take the scenic route. You'll trace the winding road through the Lindis Pass, an alpine realm blanketed with golden tussock. Arrive at Azur Lodge and settle into a villa overlooking glassy Lake Wakatipu and the dramatic Remarkables. Savor a slow evening in with pre-dinner canapés on the sundeck, then draw a bath and throw open the windows for al fresco mountain views.

15

Queenstown

Day 15: Gourmet Food & Wine Tour

Savor the flavors and stories of Central Otago on an unapologetically decadent full-day food tour. Enjoy tastings in New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave, a gourmet barrel-cooked lunch with wine pairings, and a cheeseboard to finish. Along the way, you’ll wander the heritage towns of Old Cromwell and Arrowtown where storybook street fronts are steeped in gold rush lore.

16

Queenstown

Day 16: Aotearoa Departure

Your luxury New Zealand trip comes to a close. A driver collects you for a private transfer to Queenstown Airport. Depart with a suitcase full of wine and stories that only slow, intentional travel can deliver. Alternatively, continue your journey. (May we tempt you with an extension to Australia’s Golden Triangle?)
