Multi-Generational Private Safari in Kenya

1

Nairobi

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya

Your family safari starts in Nairobi. Step off the plane for a warm welcome and VIP assistance. A private driver whisks you to a leafy suburb where you’ll arrive at Eden, a most extraordinary hideaway. Once the personal home of an artist and a filmmaker, the property hums with creative expression, and walls double as a gallery. Shake off your jet lag in a secluded three-bedroom cottage that feels like a cozy home-away-from-home.

Day 2: A Gentle Start

A second day in Nairobi is a soft landing with which to fall into East Africa’s rhythms. You’re transferred to Brown’s Food Co campus for a hands-on regenerative food tour. It’s education through playful examination: peer through microscopes, see molding cheese, and milk cows. Sit for a lunch that celebrates Kenya’s culinary heritage and abundance. Plus, ice cream! End at Banana Hill Gallery for vibrant art and walking trails.

Day 3: A Tailor-Made Safari

Touch down on iconic Maasai Mara plains to experience a private safari in Kenya as few others ever will. A canvas camp in the wild has been set up just for your family. Made-to-measure, there’s a place card set out for each special member at the table and a configuration that assures everyone’s comfort. Immersed in the wild with just the right comforts, it’s an old-school safari alive with the promise of unscripted adventure.

Day 4: Wilderness Your Way

Every safari is special, but your family’s Mara game drives are personally guided by Ninian Lowis. A third-generation safari expert, Ninian’s enthusiasm for nature is infectious. Quick to share a story, he becomes a central character in this chapter of your family’s safari. Guided by the moment rather than a schedule, Ninian tailors each day. Want to spend a full morning tracking lions, or linger in camp with binoculars and sketchbooks? You choose.

Days 5 to 6: Safari, For Everyone

Home to lion prides, vast plains, and the Great Migration, the Mara is a top safari destination—with perks for everyone. For kids, Ninian emphasizes discovery: reading animal tracks, mapping the stars, and bug tales. With all the details handled, parents enjoy the luxury of pure presence. Grandparents will appreciate a considered safari experience that moves at a thoughtful pace. For all, it’s connection—gathering at the dinner table or firepit at the end of the day.

Matthews Range

Day 7: Forest Sanctuary

Trade plains for the cedar-blanketed slopes of the Matthews Range, flying charter to Kalepo Camp. Upon arrival, you’re warmly greeted by Storm and Rob Mason and their pups. You’ll have this exclusive-use camp’s 390,000 private acres all to your sweet selves, getting to know your hosts and camp crew in a way that feels like extended family, not staff. At this magical forest camp, you’ll park the game drive vehicle, doing most of your exploring on foot.

Day 8: Walk With Samburu

Far and away, Kalepo’s irresistibility is Samburu cultural connection. Located off the well-trodden tourist trails, there’s genuine authenticity here; village visits aren’t staged for consumption and the 40-plus camp staff are all Samburu. Follow your guide—a custodian of these lands—through forested trails for a walking safari enriched with deep indigenous knowledge. Scaled for little legs and active grandparents, it’s an earned adventure everyone can enjoy, together.

Day 9: Warrior Games

The walking trails that lace Kalepo are also well suited to mountain biking, hiking, and birding. Pick your adventure—perhaps even splintering if some members would prefer to lounge by the pool or learn to bead. Kids will love participating in Warrior Games.

Reunite for meals made with garden-grown herbs and produce, served family-style and hosted by the Masons.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

Fly charter to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary where you’ll swoon for calves taking clumsy mud baths. Then, learn how orphans are reintroduced to life in the wild. At Private Wilderness, you’re welcomed by the Craig family who have owned this land for generations. You’ll spread out across five thatched cottages, but joyfully gather for dinner under one shared roof. This afternoon, set off on a game drive, Mount Kenya looming on the horizon.

Day 11: Safari, Your Way

A private guide and vehicle are ready when you are. Set off on a morning and evening game drive rambling across open plains and rolling hills. At midday, chef serves lunch al fresco while kids run barefoot on the manicured lawns and then cannonball into the pool. A dedicated hospitality team puts parents at total ease—after all, it’s a vacation for you, too.

Day 12: Rhino Conservation

In Lewa, your family has a rare opportunity to spot black and white rhino. The odds are good that you’ll see them on a game drive, but paying a special visit to headquarters helps you understand that their presence here is an achievement born of visionary conservation. Meet the dedicated rangers and the anti-poaching canine unit, then learn how ecotourism engages and lifts local communities.

Day 13: Walking Safaris & Camel Rides

Use this day to go where the Land Cruiser can’t take you. On foot, horseback, or while sitting princely atop a camel, safari slows to the pace of footsteps. Moving gently through the bush, the supporting characters blink into focus: industrious dung beetles, masterful orb spiders, and plodding tortoises. Kids will also find joy in Maasai games, while exploring cave paintings or crab fishing in the freshwater springs.

14

Nairobi

Day 14: Journey’s End

After a final morning game drive, fly to Nairobi where a private driver is available for last-minute shopping or sightseeing. Optional: A hotel day room is a convenience for pre-flight pool time, dinner, and showers. If the schedule allows, we also recommend a send-off family dinner at Cultiva, where heirloom crops become farm-to-table haute cuisine. We deliver you back to Jomo Kenyatta International to board your flight home.
