Southern Chile Family Adventure
An all-ages family trip to Chile’s Lake District and Patagonia
When you embark on a trip to Torres del Paine with Extraordinary Journeys, you surrender to this natural cadence. Guided by local experts, each day unfolds differently: spotting a puma after a patient hike, sailing past icebergs calved from ancient glaciers, or feeling the vastness of the pampas on horseback. These moments can’t be scripted; they reveal themselves when you let Patagonia lead.

Summer (which, in the Southern Hemisphere, falls between December and early March) is the best time to plan a Torres del Paine trip. Even though you can still encounter rainy weather and fierce winds, temperatures are comfortable and the longer days give you more daylight hours to hit the trails and squeeze in more time to admire the scenery.
If you want to avoid the high season crowds during December, January, and February, we recommend a spring or fall visit. The weather is still conducive to outdoor adventure, and you get seasonal bonuses like blooming wildflowers or seeing baby guanacos. Many people also don’t know that Torres del Paine is a year-round destination; some lodges remain open through winter, where you’ll have the park practically to yourself.
