Another must-visit is the Chorro de Quevedo to appreciate the diversity of the historic center and learn more about the city’s storied history. Art and history lovers shouldn’t miss the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum) and the Botero Museum, a modern art museum named after famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero. At the end of Jimenez Avenue, don’t miss a visit to the handicrafts market at Santander Park.

Punctuate a day of exploring with a sunset view of the city from 10,000 feet above sea level atop Monserrate. The top of the mountain can be reached via a three to four-hour hike, or by hitching a cable car ride up. Whatever way you reach the peak, enjoy the view overlooking the capital with a sugar cane tea or a glass of wine from one of the mountaintop cafes. At the top, we can also arrange a walking tour—which is quite hilly, and can be tailored to your level of fitness.
