The big draw of the area is its proximity to the border with South Africa, meaning it is accessible by road (most commonly from the KwaZulu-Natal safari camps) or by air through Mozambique’s capital, Maputo. Like the rest of southern Mozambique, the hottest and wettest time to visit is January to March and properties can be more crowded with South African travelers during their peak vacation months of December, January, over Easter, and in July.
