Accessible only in the dry season between June and October, when receding waters concentrate wildlife around the Mwaleshi River's remaining pools, this is a park to be experienced on foot. With no game driving allowed in the area, it's a haven for those seeking the tranquility and authenticity of a good walking safari.

As the dry season takes hold and the Mwaleshi River recedes, the remaining water pools become focal points for an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. What the north lacks in the sheer density of South Luangwa, it more than compensates for in atmosphere and intimacy.

Our property of choice here is Mwaleshi Camp, a small, authentic bush camp owned by the same family behind Tafika Camp in South Luangwa. It embodies everything that makes North Luangwa special: unpretentious, expertly guided, and utterly immersed in the wilderness around it.
