Vang Vieng Travel

Once a backpacker haven, this scenic town on the banks of the Nam Song, or Song River, has reimagined itself as Laos’ outdoor adventure epicenter.

The natural wonderland is marked by towering limestone karst peaks brimming with hiking trails and caves that await exploration, including the steep hike up to Dok Ngern, or the Silver Flower Cave, which is carved with hidden corridors filled with stalagmites and stalactites. Our travelers often combine Vang Vieng with Luang Prabang (a one-hour high-speed train ride north) and the capital of Vientiane on a Laos itinerary.

A calm river reflects karst limestone peaks and lush green hills at dusk in Vang Vieng, Laos.
