Is Republic of the Congo the right destination for you?
Congo travel is best suited to active, adventurous, and intrepid travelers drawn to remote, emerging destinations. This is not a classic savannah safari or a polished five-star experience, but an immersive rainforest journey — bugs and all. Expect to explore predominantly on foot, as gorilla trekking, river crossings, wildlife-rich bais, kayaking, and guided night walks define the experience. If you can stand to get your hands a little dirty, the Congo won’t disappoint.
What is the best time to visit Republic of the Congo?
Located just north of the equator, Odzala’s climate remains fairly consistent year-round: hot and humid. The year alternates between two dry and two rainy seasons.
The dry periods, from November to February and June to August, are generally cooler and less humid, making them our preferred travel windows. That said, rainfall can still occur and conditions remain variable even during the drier months.
The rainy seasons, from March to May and September to October, bring higher humidity and warmer temperatures. Tropical downpours are often balanced by stretches of bright blue skies, creating dramatic light and exceptional conditions for photographers.
