We're looking for an experienced Africa safari specialist to join our sales team. This is a sales role first: you'll convert inbound inquiries into bookings, build client relationships that lead to repeat trips and referrals, and grow your numbers year over year, all while designing the kind of creative, thoughtful itineraries that show clients what an Extraordinary Journeys trip can be. Candidates should have deep destination knowledge of Africa, a genuine drive to sell, and the ability to work remotely.
Extraordinary Journeys is a luxury tour operator specializing in custom, high-end safaris across Africa and beyond. We build every itinerary around the traveler rather than a set template, and matching the right person to the right properties, experiences, and guides is what sets our work apart. We also believe luxury isn't about marble bathrooms and white-glove service, it's about matching people with experiences that are authentic, sustainable, and true to a place. We're looking for someone who shares that view and brings the same care and creativity to their own client relationships, and who wants to be one of our best examples of the trips we're known for.
Full-time, ongoing position, Monday to Friday 9:30 to 5:30 EST, with after-hours work during peak sales seasons and occasional company events.
Compensation is based on experience, paid as a combination of salary and earned commission above set revenue targets.
We're an award-winning luxury adventure travel brand, and our Sales team has more than 100 years of combined experience in the travel industry. We look for people who are seriously passionate about travel and want to build a career here, not just fill a role, and we back that up with real autonomy: you'll manage your own clients, your own numbers, and your own schedule, trusted to get the work done rather than watched to make sure you're at your desk, with the support of a team that knows the destinations as well as you do.
We work remotely and always have. We stay connected through weekly team meetings, an annual retreat, and get-togethers when travel allows, with team members in California, Colorado, Cape Town, Iowa, Massachusetts, Norway, Texas, and more. Everyone here manages their own clients and their own numbers and is trusted to do it well, but we think of ourselves as one team working toward the same goals, not a group of specialists competing against each other. There's a friendly energy to how we push each other, and ourselves, to do better work for our clients, and we lean on each other for ideas and feedback along the way. Turnover on our team is close to zero. We're looking for a long-term commitment.
Extraordinary Journeys was founded by mother-daughter duo Marcia and Elizabeth Gordon, who bring decades of combined experience living and working in Africa and around the world. That founding perspective still shapes how we operate: attentive to each client, collaborative across the team, and focused on getting every traveler the trip that's actually right for them.
Every full-time team member has the opportunity to take at least one paid familiarization trip per year to one of our destinations. Throughout the year, all employees also have access to special industry rates on hotels and lodges to use on their own time off.
