Jinja
Jinja is the adventure capital of Uganda. Located on the shores of Lake Victoria, near the source of the Nile, the area has a lot to offer visitors in the way of adventure sports and activities. From white water rafting to kayaking and bungee jumping to quad bike riding, there is something to thrill any adrenaline-seeker. For those looking for a more tranquil experience, horseback riding, sunset cruises on the Nile and birding are sure to suit.
Just 45 minutes from Jinja is Lemala Wildwaters Lodge, one of our favorite escapes in Africa. Nestled on an island between the thundering rapids of the mighty Nile River, the lodge offers access to all of the activities to make your time as active or relaxed as you’d like. Lemala Wildwaters is a 3-hour transfer by road from Entebbe, followed by a short boat ride to the lodge. If your bones are road wary, consider a short helicopter or charter flight from Entebbe.
