Quad-Biking in Northern Kenya

You can already see East Africa on foot with the Maasai, on horseback, or on a camel safari and now you can explore Kenya by ATV.

Exploring Nothern Kenya on a quad bike is a great new option available to travelers to Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau. This action-packed adventure is a fabulous way to explore the beautiful Andanguru Plain, Seaku and Ewaso Rivers, and Kipsing Lugga, some of the most remote areas of Kenya.

Our friend Antonia from Cheli & Peacock experienced the adventure first-hand a few weekends ago and loved it. Here is more of what she had to say:

“For those who have never been to Kipsing Lugga, its wide smooth terrain is perfect for even the most amateur ‘quader.’ The entire stretch is spectacularly scenic, brimming with wildlife and herders bringing their goats and camels to water. It’s quite a sight. Other highlights of the trip included walking up the kopjes for sundowners and stunning 360° views over the rugged Northern Frontier District, while the evening dances from Samburu moran and women gave a great taste of the local culture. Sleeping out on the lugga – in fly tents – under the stars brings you that much closer to nature and the sights and sounds of the African bush. The morning call of the Yellow Necked Spurfowl is a novel alternative to the usual alarm clock!”

This expedition can be arranged as a day trip or a one- or two-night excursion from the properties in and around the Lewa Conservancy (such as Lewa House, Lewa Wilderness, Sirikoi and Lewa Safari Camp) and Samburu National Park or through Tassia Lodge and Borana Ranch.
