Treehouse Safari Sleepout
A treehouse safari can be a fun and romantic one-night addition to your trip. After an afternoon walk in the bush, you will arrive at your home in the trees in time for sunset drinks and a picnic dinner. Some lodges supply yoga mats or even offer a masseuse to visit you in your bush bedroom. Others leave you with a walkie talkie and the time and space to relax, take in the vast African sky, and enjoy your solitude. Whether there is a staff member within earshot or just a walkie talkie, you will never be too far away and always be able to communicate with the staff at the main lodge so you should always feel safe. Treehouses usually act as satellite suites to the main lodge that you’d book with, not its own separate property. If a treehouse sounds like the perfect addition to your safari, they can be found in South Africa at Lion Sands, Pondoro, and Motswari camps bordering Kruger National Park, at Marataba in South Africa’s malaria-free Limpopo, at Kanga Camp and Ruckomechi in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pool and at Kaingo in Zambia’s South Luangwa. East Africa features treehouses like ‘The Nest’ at Serian Camp in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Loisaba Star Beds in Laikipia, in Lake Victoria (the newly completed treehouse on Rubondo Island) and in the Selous at Beho Beho of Tanzania. If you want a star bed experience in India, consider Jamtara Wilderness Camp in Pench National Park.
