Bariloche & the Lake District

Argentina’s Lake District is a wilderness wonderland of pristine glacial lakes, cascading waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and forested valleys where condors fly overhead. Set in the middle of the Lake District, on the shores of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, the alpine town of San Carlos de Bariloche is surrounded by stunning forests, mountains, and lakes as far as the eye can see. Bariloche is considered a year-round destination (unusual for Patagonia). Spend your days relaxing and enjoying the views or getting active in one of Argentina’s premier adventure areas.

During the summer months (November-March), visitors to this region can enjoy trekking, cycling, and kayaking in the nearby Nahuel Huapi National Park. Other activities include fishing (fly-fishing in particular is exceptional in this part of the world), hiking and horseback riding. This region also boasts a range of winter activities such as skiing and snow-shoeing at the Cerro Catedral resort from April to September.
