This 11-day, fly-in luxury South Africa and Namibia safari itinerary starts in Johannesburg. From here, fly to Hoedspruit and transfer to Makanyi Private Game Lodge in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park. Relax and watch the game at the lodge’s waterhole, or go on game drives in an electric Land Rover. As well as the Big Five, look out for giraffe, and hundreds of bird species.
Fly to Cape Town, where you’ll stay at Clarendon Bantry Bay, which has million-dollar views over the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a sunrise hike up Table Mountain, kayak and snorkel along False Bay, and visit a penguin colony, and look out for whales (in season). Visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, home to an array of fynbos, more than 250 species of birds, buck, baboons, and Cape Mountain zebra. Drive back via the spectacularly scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive. You can also visit the Cape Winelands, enjoy a trip out to Robben Island, or go shopping in boutique stores and galleries.
Fly to Windhoek in Namibia and take an onward bush flight to the chic Kwessi Dunes, cradled by the russet sands of NamibRand Nature Reserve. Head out on game drives in search of desert-adapted wildlife, take a quad bike over the dunes, visit the towering famed dunes of Sossusvlei and Big Daddy, Deadvlei, star gaze in the observatory alongside an astronomer, and survey the dunes from the air on a morning hot air balloon ride.
Return to Windhoek and your international flight home.
