andBeyond Vira Vira is one of our favorite properties in the Chilean Lake District outside of the city of Pucón. We also consider it one of the best luxury lodges in Patagonia. 

Vira Vira is perfect for the active traveler. It offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, yoga, kayaking, water sports, and fishing (November-March). We love that all of these activities are included in the rate and that the hiking in this beautiful region is not as strenuous as the trekking in Torres del Paine. In addition to these activities, Vira Vira is a working farm that provides almost all of the hotel’s food. Guests can explore the farm, learn about the livestock breeding program, or visit the dairy to make yogurt, butter, or cheese.

The property itself is beautiful, a tasteful mix of modern and traditional touches and incredible attention to detail. The main hotel area is built from reclaimed local alerce wood and glass and takes full advantage of the beautiful setting. Guests dine in the main hotel restaurant with its open fireplace, planked lenga wood walls and views over the lagoon.

There are three different types of accommodation: the main hotel, riverside suites, and rooms in the hacienda for those who want to muck around on the farm and have more of a family-style experience. There is also the Ruca Suite, a 2,100-square foot standalone lodge with a curved roof inspired by traditional Mapuche abodes. As well as being available as a private suite, it is used for activities like cooking lessons, yoga sessions, art classes, and wine tasting.

The beautiful, unique setting and huge array of activities make Vira Vira the perfect base from which to explore Chile’s Lake District.
