The Northern Territory is remote and seemingly untraveled – the ultimate off the beaten path experience. The largest city in the Tropical North is the port town of Darwin on the Timor Sea just south of Indonesia. This is the jumping off place for Bamurru Plains, where you will do your wildlife viewing by airboat, remote Davidson’s Arnhemland with the best collection of Aboriginal rock art in Australia, the remarkable canyons and rivers at Catherine Gorge, and the beautiful lagoons and canyons at Kakadu Canyon.

Alice Springs, equidistant from Adelaide and Darwin, is the largest town in the arid Red Center, in fact it is just about the only town on the 1,760 mile-long Stuart Highway. It has a large population of indigenous people and was the traditional homeland for the Arrente people who settled there 30,000 years ago. About 4.5 hours from Alice Springs is Uluru (Ayer’s Rock), the 2-mile-long monolith that is the iconic symbol of Australia, and its sister monolith Kata Tjuta. Uluru and Kata Tjuta (connected far beneath the earth’s surface) are both cultural and natural World Heritage Sites and important sacred sites for the Anangu people who believe that it was the entry to earth for humankind. Uluru is the heartbeat of Australia and we strongly believe that Longitude 131 is worth the splurge for the most meaningful experience.
