Todos Santos is our go-to town in Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Everywhere you look is evidence of the town’s rich and varied history. Lovely churches erected by the early missionaries figure prominently around town, as do the mansions and haciendas of the sugar barons. The town’s current incarnation is as an artists’ colony, agricultural center, and surfing hot spot. Its charms are enchanting.

Use Todos Santos as a base to reach other key regions by vehicle, but leave yourself some free days to explore town. We recommend a guided tour to access the area’s historic homes and buildings and hear fascinating stories of the global forces and colorful personalities that brought them into existence and shaped Todos Santos over the years. Make time to visit the studios of working artists and take the opportunity to shop for local hand crafts and art. Many visitors love to make sure they visit the fabled Hotel California. No one knows for sure if it’s “that” Hotel California, but it’s still fun to snap a photo, or stay for a drink or a meal.
