Home to iconic Thailand travel spots like Phuket and Krabi, the Andaman Coast is one of the country’s most popular destinations, and for good reason: it’s marked by cinematic tropical beaches where emerald karsts rise from aquamarine waters, as well as delicious food and dynamic Thai culture and history. But there’s also still plenty of secluded spots to explore, too. Whether you’re content to bronze beneath a Siamese sun or while away the day oceanside, there’s something for every type of traveler here. 

Many Andaman adventures begin in Phuket, arguably Thailand’s most famous island. Here, a walking tour of the Old Town will introduce you to traditional artisans and cuisine. You don’t have to venture very far from Phuket to get off the beaten path, though. A short speedboat ride brings you to Koh Yao Noi, an idyllic, quieter island where you can revel in barefoot luxury. Just over an hour north on the mainland, set out to explore the Surin and Similan islands for some of the best snorkeling and diving in the region, or head deeper into the rainforest for trekking and canoeing in Khao Sok National Park. 

Active families will want to settle in for a few days at a beachfront resort in Krabi on the mainland, while couples looking for a slower pace can head to laidback Koh Lanta, a serene island off the coast of Krabi.

There’s no shortage of quintessential Thai beach scenery here, so book your trip from December to April, when you’ll enjoy drier weather and make the most of your time in the sun.
