Old Mondoro

Located in the Lower Zambezi, Old Mondoro is accessible from Jeki Airstrip with a 30-minute transfer through the park.

Old Mondoro’s rooms are lovely reed and wood structures with panoramas over the river, an outdoor bathroom, and solar lighting. The rooms are tasteful and comfortable and we find them to be very romantic. For those looking for a more polished product, this may not be the right place as it is very open and they only have outdoor bathrooms. The main tent is built under trees and has an open camp fire and paraffin lamp lighting. Old Mondoro has that intimate bush camp feel which is ideal for anyone looking to be as close to nature as possible without completely abandoning luxury.

Activities include canoeing and game drives throughout the Lower Zambezi where the wildlife is excellent. Sometimes the wildlife gets so close that you may even see elephants wandering right through the lounge area!

Old Mondoro is a very special place tucked away in its own corner of the lower Zambezi. We think Old Mondoro is perfect if you are looking for a barefoot luxury experience and a real sense of remoteness.
