Primate Lodge

The Primate Lodge is located in the middle of Kibale Forest National Park, deep in the African rainforest. It’s a great option for people who are determined to track chimpanzees, and because of its location, it’s possible to do two tracks in one day. This eco-lodge is unique in that it offers a range of accommodation types. They have 8 luxury safari tents (thatched roofs, private verandahs, queen-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms), 7 cottages (private verandahs, large twin beds, sitting area, en-suite bathroom), a remote tree house (10 minutes from the main camp, overlooks an elephant wallow, simple bedroom with basic washing facilities below), and a campsite (for clients who bring their own tents). We prefer the luxury safari tents over the cottages.

Chimpanzee trekking is the main activity in Kibale Forest National Park, but another noteworthy activity available from Primate Lodge is a trip to Tinka’s home for lunch. Tinka invites travelers to Kibale into his home for a traditional Ugandan meal to give guests an authentic “taste” of the country. Tinka is involved in a number of community development programs, so we like to support this experience for interested travelers.
