Gorilla Forest Camp
Gorilla Forest Camp, ideally located within the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, is an excellent base for your mountain gorilla treks. Unlike nearby Mahogany Springs which is in more of a clearing with farther views, GFC is located in thicker forest, which appeals to some more than others. But being so submerged in the forest, the camp is frequented by mountain gorillas! In addition to gorilla treks, the camp offers a Batwa tribe experience, birding walks, and forest walks at extra cost. Included in the cost is an intriguing community walk which we recommend.
The camp itself is quite nice. It consists of only 8 tents; very spacious with 2 queen beds and a large bathtub overlooking the forest canopy. The common areas are welcoming and draw all of the guests together for drinks and meals. The food here is excellent as is the staff. They are very attentive and they even wash and dry your clothes after your trek and clean your hiking boots! Overall, this is a really nice option. We felt that, for a Sanctuary property, it lacked some of the finishing touches that their other properties boast, but overall it’s a good option while tracking mountain gorillas.
