Mushara Outpost

Mushara Outpost lies on the banks of an ancient dry riverbed within the Mushara Game Reserve, Namibia. This lodge accommodates 16 people in eight tents that are raised on stilts, each with a private veranda to help take in the stunning landscape. With fresh and interesting décor, the tents are beautiful without being excessive in size or feel. All of the tents face out into the bush where some resident game roam. There is a great deal of privacy here, and it’s much easier to walk around the camp on the brick paths than the sand or rock walkways that you’ll encounter at other camps.

While there may not be much game within the reserve itself, it is just five miles to Etosha National Park, where Big Five game-viewing is possible. Roads are clearly marked, which is ideal for those looking to do a self-drive. You can also do nature walks (two to four hours) within the private concession or enjoy spectacular bird-viewing at the camp’s bird hide.

We think Mushara Outpost is great value for money for its comfort and amenities, like air conditioning, that you usually only find in more expensive properties. There is also a private airstrip that greatly improves accessibility (if it fits in your budget).
