Camp Kipwe

Camp Kipwe is hidden amidst the rock-strewn landscape of the Twyfelfontein Conservancy. The giant rock formations are carefully incorporated into the structure and layout of the camp’s 9 bungalows and 1 luxury suite. We really like this feature – it’s what makes Camp Kipwe unique and makes you really feel like you’re part of the landscape. The camp has excellent views of the Aba Huab River, the focal point for many of your safari activities, and crystal clear night skies provide excellent stargazing. Camp Kipwe offers desert elephant trekking as well as visits to Burnt Mountain and the Twyfelfontein rock art.

We think Camp Kipwe has a really fun and youthful vibe despite its rustic and sometimes not-so-sophisticated feel. With the bungalows being situated on rocky hills and the camp is relatively spread out, it’s not a good option for someone with mobility issues. The bathrooms are outdoors and built into the rock which can be really neat but might be problematic during the rainy season. Otherwise, we find the rooms quite lovely and comfortable. This is definitely a great choice for someone on a budget, but if you can afford to pay more, Mowani is the more polished option in Twyfelfontein.
