A negative RT-PCR test result not older than 72hrs from the time of departure from country of origin, presented at the port of entry – this simply means that a traveller must have a negative PCR certificate for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to departing their home country.

The South African Department of Health have made it mandatory that all foreign travelers to South Africa carry travel insurance to cover any unforeseen COVID-19 based expenses (medical, trip interruption, etc.).
