The ranch, owned by The Nature Conservancy and managed to emphasize environmental conservation practices, is home to a herd of two-thousand bison and bordered by Great Sand Dunes National Park, America’s newest national park. The ranch welcomes guests from around the world who have an interest in exploring the ranch’s scenic and diverse meadows, wetlands, sand dunes and cottonwood groves while learning about the role of ranching in preserving and protecting these natural wonders.

The ranch offers extensive horseback riding programs with the opportunity to experience life on a working cattle and bison ranch, while also enjoying gourmet cuisine and high-end amenities. Guests are welcome to work alongside wranglers and ranch staff on a multitude of projects, while those who simply wish to experience the ranch and its surroundings can ride through herds of wild bison two-thousand strong or explore Great Sand Dunes National Park. Other activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing, fly fishing, hiking nearby mountains, and massages are also offered at the ranch and are included in the ranch vacation package.

The historic seventeen-bedroom lodge is housed in the original homestead built in the 1800s, featuring beautifully furnished rooms complete with elegant Southwestern decor, private tiled bathrooms, and peaceful views that are stunning in any season. The lodge’s dining experience is second to none, featuring local produce and meats from the ranch itself. Chefs create an unforgettable take on traditional comfort foods, offering a modern twist. Breakfasts are made to order and the chefs will provide you with bagged lunches to enjoy on the trail.
