Ubuntu Camp
Ubuntu Camp is a mobile camp that moves three times throughout the year to always remain in the vicinity of the migration. From July through October, Ubuntu is located in the Northern Serengeti where, if you’re lucky, you might witness herds crossing the Mara River. From December to March, the camp resides in the Southern Serengeti among endless plains where wildebeest come to rest and calve, which in turn draws predators. From May to July the camp moves into the Western Corridor near the Grumeti River.
Since the objective of Ubuntu is to always be in the action of the migration, game-viewing is excellent. Top guides take you on game drives and from December to March, when the camp is in the Southern Serengeti in the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, walking safaris are available.
We love how the camp encourages a communal vibe where guests come together in the main tents, at the dinner table, and at the campfire where they recount their stories from the day. The 8 canvas tents have en-suite bathrooms and patios and are extremely comfortable. They’re quite simple, allowing you to feel totally immersed in your surroundings. In order to keep a light footprint, the tents have ‘safari showers,’ which essentially means that you have a limited supply of water. If you’re looking for something fancier, Olakira might be a better option.
