Serra Cafema Camp is nestled in the lush riverine forest of the Kunene River, providing a breathtakingly beautiful and stark contrast to the surrounding arid desert and rugged mountains. The 8 enormous riverside villas, including one honeymoon suite, are all en-suite with private verandas that have spectacular views over the river. The camp is lavishly decorated and includes a pool, bar, library and curio shop. Dinner is served in a different location every night which feels really special. Popular activities include visiting the neighboring Himba people, boating on the Kunene River, fishing, quad-biking, and nature drives in Hartmann’s Valley. It’s also the perfect place to just sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful camp and its scenery. This is the perfect destination for those seeking adventure and culture in a luxurious setting.
Accessible only by a 3-hour light aircraft flight from Windhoek to Hartmann’s Valley Airstrip followed by a smooth 1-hour drive, Serra Cafema is probably Namibia’s most remote camp. However, the transfers are absolutely stunning with views of the Angolan mountains in the distance. Because of the flight and drive (and also for how much we love this camp), we recommend staying at least two nights. If you are interested in exploring more of the north of Namibia we recommend pairing Serra Cafema with Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp.
