Serengeti Sopa Lodge
Serengeti Sopa Lodge is located in the Central Serengeti which is a year-round destination, though the months of April and May bring long rains. When the annual animal migration is in the Southern Serengeti (December to April), you can take a day trip (1-2 hour drive from the Central Reserve) to view the Great Migration. For the rest of the year you can’t see the migration from this part of the Serengeti, but it still provides good game-viewing once the migration has passed.
The Serengeti Sopa Lodge is in a nice location, sitting on top of a hill with commanding views over the plains. Although the lodge is more of a large hotel and the main areas are rather uninviting, the décor is nice and the views from the pool are lovely. The food and service are adequate and the rooms are attractive. This is not our favorite type of accommodation, but it might be well-suited for those who are nervous about being in the more open camps, and at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge you know you will be looked after. We tend to prefer the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge over the Sopa.
