Serengeti Migration Camp
Serengeti Migration Camp is situated in the northern region of the Serengeti, on the southern banks of the Grumeti River. As its name suggests, a major draw to this camp is its accessibility to the Great Wildebeest Migration that comes through this region from June through October, which is really a spectacular sight. The rest of the year, once the herds have moved on, can be really nice as the crowds die down, but game-viewing lacks.
This is a beautiful luxury camp with 20 elevated tents that are well-appointed with wraparound balconies for endless game-viewing. Spacious and tastefully decorated, each canvas tent incorporates wood and leather furnishings, giving it a rustic yet polished feel. As the bathrooms don’t have doors, you would need to be comfortable with whomever you share your tent.
The camp offers walking safaris and game drives – but unfortunately there are no night drives. Hot air balloon rides over the Serengeti are also available if booked in advance. The surrounding landscape of hills and trees varies from the grassy plains of the central Serengeti, which is particularly stunning from the air.
